I attended Bonnington Road 1955 - 1961. What great memories I have of my time there. I still remember my very first teacher - Mrs Richardson I was a member of the school over headball team and we used to have an annual competition at Wardie Playing fields, where all the primary schools took part. Our greatest on rivals were St Mary's Primary who nearly always won the competition. I also remember the Play Centre, which , if I remember correctly was a Monday night, I couldn't wait to have my tea, meet my pals and get back to school. At the Play Centre we could play different board & physical games, learn to dance, knit or sew and the boys would made thing with meccano or building sets. Yes it's true what they say "that your school day s are the best days of your life" and Bonnington were certainly mine.

I was an immigrant to Scotland from Germany in 1952, aged 7, and Bonnington was the first school I attended here. My mother dropped me off unable to speak any english but thanks to the dedication of the teachers I made good progress and was practically fluent 3 months later. I often remember those early days, especially the school dinners on soup day when we got a roll and a cube of cheese to go with it !

What a pleasant surprise to see the shcool which I attended in the 1950s is still standing. I have fond memories of playing overhead ball and swapping scraps st playtime. Best wishes from Canada.
